PHS Awards Three Heritage Preservation Grants

The Presbyterian Historical Society is pleased to award three Heritage Preservation Grants to PC(USA) congregations in 2022. The winners are:

Dakota Community Presbyterian Church (Dakota, Ill.), organized in 1846.
Westminster United Presbyterian Church (West Islip, N.Y.), organized in 1958.
Faith Presbyterian Church (Huber Heights, Ohio), organized in 1960.

The Heritage Preservation Grant program was established in 2001, PHS's 150th anniversary. Sustained by donations to the PHS annual fund, each in-kind grant provides $500 toward digitizing a congregation's vital records, including session minutes and church registers. Churches with fewer than 200 members that are at least 50 years old may apply.

As ever, historically Black Presbyterian churches can get free digitization, through our African American Leaders and Congregations fund. African American congregations can have their session minutes and registers imaged at PHS, up to 1200 pages of text, at no cost. We can then either secure the original records in the archives, or return them to the church.

We'd like to thank every congregation that took the time to prepare an application for last year's awards. The deadline for every year's cycle is December 31.
