PHS Staff Profile: Lorraine Brown
What is your role at PHS? What do you do from day-to-day?
I am the Associate for Finance & Building Operations. I oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the institution, and coordinate with our finance colleagues in Louisville. I’m also in charge of building operations by working closely with the building team and vendors, managing PHS travel, various administration functions, and help plan and execute meetings and events!
How does your work support the mission of PHS?
I make sure our finances and building are secure and safe! This ensures that we can have continued access to collections and that the environmental conditions help preserve the longevity of our collections.
Why do you love working at PHS?
We’re here to preserve history and share it! There’s a lot of moving parts to make that happen, and since I’m a team player, I love being able to support all of the staff and the work that makes that happen. I especially love being able to showcase my colleagues and their work through events--I’m never bored!
What do you find most inspiring about PHS?
It’s inspiring that we can take historic paper documents and share them with the world. I’m inspired that we can reach so many people!
Please share an interesting or fun fact about yourself.
