Celebrating Women’s History Month, PHS presents The Trailblazer and the Investigator. This special event will highlight the story of Presbyterian Missionary Dr. Eliza Leonard’s work in Peking (now Beijing), China, and a nephew’s quest to recover her story. Dr. Leonard served from 1895 to 1924 and was one of the first women doctors in China. PHS Board Member William Lake Leonard will tell his Great Aunt’s story and relate his own experience of discovery. Jennifer Barr, Western Medicine in China Project Coordinator, will provide important background and insight surrounding Eliza’s mission work. Guests will also enjoy the unveiling of our new exhibit Where History Lives: The Presbyterian Historical Society at 160.

We hope you will join us Friday, March 9, 2012 at 5:30pm. Wine & hors d’oeuvres will be served. The event is free of charge and will be held at the Presbyterian Historical Society, 425 Lombard Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19147. Space is limited; please R.S.V.P. to Kate Fox at kfox@history.pcusa.org by March 1, 2012.
