A. A. Fulton was born in Ashland Ohio. After graduating from Princeton University in 1876 he attended Union Theological Seminary in New York and was ordained in 1880. Just prior to his ordination, he was appointed as a missionary to the PCUSA's South China Mission at Canton. In 1883 he married Florence Wishard who subsequently transferred from the Laos Mission. Primarily evangelists, they experienced some violent resistance in their early years of service. The Fultons retired from mission work in 1922.
