- Congregational historians may be an amateur or professional, clergy or layperson, with an interest in history. Encourage the formation of a committee to work on collecting, preserving, writing, and presenting the history of the congregation.
- Work with the congregation's Presbyterian Women's historian or history committee, and the Presbytery Historian, if positions are active.
- Be aware and utilize the resources of the Presbyterian Historical Society including the web site, pamphlets and brochures specifically focused on writing church history, celebrating anniversaries, records management, and the microfilming of records.
