Visiting Researchers and Remote Users If You Visit
Visitors to our two offices will be asked to register each day. We ask our researchers to complete a registration form which acquaints them with our access policies. We ask our researchers to bring only the papers they need into our reading rooms and to use pencils, not pens, to take notes. We permit laptop computers.
We can arrange for a limited number of copies, if the condition of the materials will permit it. We do not permit the use of scanners, cameras, or digital cameras on our materials. If You Cannot Visit The Presbyterian Historical Society does not lend its materials, and does not participate in the Interlibrary Loan program. In certain exceptional cases, we can photocopy some materials at your expense and send them to you. These cases are covered in our copying policy. Many remote researchers send friends, family, or professional colleagues to do their research for them. Our offices keep lists of local researchers who are familiar with our collections who may contract to do specific research for you for a fee. (Please note that we are not responsible for private research agreements.) Many of the "Tips for Success" will be useful to you in any large history collection you may chose to visit.
Some sections of our collections have been microfilmed, and are commercially available for purchase, or might be borrowed from circulating libraries through interlibrary loan.
We do offer one research service through the mail for a fixed fee.
