In June, our Montreat office welcomed Bill Brock as Collection Management Archivist. Bill comes to PHS from the Austin Presbyterian Seminary where he served as Archivist. Bill will be coordinating Montreat's archives, manuscript, and museum collections. An avid bicyclist, Bill is enjoying the mountains of North Carolina.

Eileen Sklar joined our Philadelphia staff in July. As Reference Archivist she will be assisting our congregations and other users gather needed information from our collections and will be participating in outreach and educational program development. Eileen most recently worked as Collection Archivist at the Delaware Art Museum. She and her husband, Robert are proud new parents of baby Emma.

Margo Szabunia has accepted the position of Manager of Technical Services at our Philadelphia headquarters and will be joining us in November. Margo has worked as an archivist with the U.S. National Archives, the Balch Institute, and most recently as Curator of Historic Collections at Pennsylvania Hospital.

Retirements

On May 12, 2000 the Presbyterian Historical Society said farewell to Assistant Cataloger, Norotha Robinson. Nora started with PHS in 1957. For 43 years, Nora's cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and heart-warming smile made an indelible mark on the lives of countless visitors, researchers, and co-workers. In retirement, Nora and husband, Bill are busy with family, travel, boating and fishing.

Deaths

On October 2, 2000, Ed Stazi, the Presbyterian Historical Society's engineer, died suddenly at his home. Ed joined the PHS staff in 1959 and was instrumental in overseeing the construction of our present building at 425 Lombard Street. Until a spate of recent illnesses, Ed was on site at 5:00 a.m. each morning to assure that every bolt was in place and all emergencies resolved before staff and patrons began arriving. Ed is survived by a daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
