The Committee convened for its annual meeting November 2-4, 2000 at our Philadelphia office. A substantive agenda including a complete review of PHS past year activities, short-term and long-term planning concerns, development and fund raising issues, and review of plans for the society's 150th anniversary celebration in 2002, wereamong the tasks that confronted our advisory and advocacy committee.
Subcommittees met in breakout sessions to review and discuss programs and services, to assess and advise on development and fund raising, and to select the winners of the PHS publication awards.
The full Committee gathered to brainstorm celebrating our Presbyterian Heritage, to attend member orientation, and to participate in a Presbyterian Foundation training event.
Breaks from this busy schedule included worship at Old Pine Church, tours of PHS, a chance to review the new PHS web site, time for members to meet with staff, a catered dinner in the PHS Reading Room with period music provided by Musica Antiqua of South Jersey.
On Saturday, November 4, 2000, members of the Committee for the Presbyterian Historical Society and invited guests participated in "An Afternoon with The Stated Clerk." Members, guests, and PHS staff had the opportunity to hear and converse with the PC(USA)'s Stated Clerk, Dr. Clifton Kirkpatrick, on the importance of Presbyterian history in the modern church.
